Brian Shoemaker is running for re-election, and he wants your vote! He is seeking to be re-seated for Mineral Wells At Large Place 1. Coming to the table having already served 4 years on the city council, this incumbent is looking to continue his good work. Mr. Shoemaker sees his extended history with the city as the strength that he offers. Owning a Chicken Express and originally owning the local Old School Pizza Co., Brian believes that his company knowledge and time with the council bring a lot of value to the people of Mineral Wells.
Mr. Shoemaker graduated from Mineral Wells and moved around a little for school. Earning a bachelor’s degree in history from Texas Tech, Brian found himself settling back into his hometown when preparing to finish school at Tarleton. Graduating with an MBA, Brian soon married and brought up a family. His wife Cara, and daughters Caroline and Cate, have called Mineral Wells their home the whole of their lives. Shoemaker related that his family are a good reminder of why he is running and why he cares about the city. He hopes that his service on several committees such as The Chamber of Commerce, the Hope Shelter Board, and the Merry Wells Committee will continue to aid him in making the connections that will see this city grow.
“Most of all, I want Mineral Wells to be a place that my children want to stay and raise their children.”
When answering questions, Brian talked about how he was excited to see all the potential around the Baker Hotel. He mentioned that Mineral Wells has really stepped up its offerings as a tourist destination with projects like the new bike paths out at Texas Frontier Trails. Mr. Brian finds it refreshing to see people out hiking and biking through the countryside and views it as an extension of the culture he wishes to foster for the city. Brian says that although he doesn’t like disappointing some people, he feels his choices will always be for the benefit of Mineral Wells as a whole.
We wish Brian good luck, along with all the other candidates, in their upcoming bid for city council. Keep up with Goodday to catch coverage of the city council meetings and those who seek a seat. From the ballot box to the big decisions made by those elected, we are reaching out to bring it all to you! We hope ya’ll have a good one!
