Gary Mitch Medlin

July 30, 1965 – August 31, 2021

Gary Mitch Medlin, age 56, went to be with his Lord and Savior after his battle with COVID Pneumonia on August 31, 2021, in Mineral Wells, Texas. Gary was born in Mineral Wells, Texas, on July 30, 1965, and was the son of Ora Mae Day. After the passing of his mother, he was adopted by Earl and Patti Medlin in 1983. Gary met the love of his life, Teresa Ann (Bell), and they were married on May 7, 1988. Gary received his GED from Mineral Wells High School after encouragement from Patti.  He then joined the Army National Guard and served 7 years.  After becoming a reservist, he attended the Weatherford Police Academy subsequently becoming a certified police officer also serving on the SWAT Team. Gary started his career with Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer later becoming a deputy.  He then transferred to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office where he served for nearly 20 years. Gary then worked as a deputy in Hood County and is currently a reservist for the Hood County Sheriff’s Department. Most recently, Gary was employed as a Traffic Control officer under an independent contractor. Gary was a prestigious man and a devout Christian who served his Lord; he was baptized at the West Side Baptist Church. In his free time, Gary enjoyed skiing, biking, hiking, camping, and hunting. Gary and Teresa loved to host foreign exchange students which they did over the course of several years.  Those students loved the Medlin family so much that they still keep in contact and/or visit on occasion.  He will be remembered for his charismatic personality and the notorious pranks he pulled on his friends and family. Gary was a wonderful husband and a proud father who loved his family endlessly.
