Fritz Edwin Ballenger

October 11, 1941 – September 5, 2021


Fritz “Sonny” Ballenger, 79, of Mineral Wells, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 5, 2021 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Fort Worth.

Fritz was born October 11, 1941 in Mineral Wells to Fritz L Ballenger and Mary Pugh Ballenger. He married Ada Lee in 1960 and had 4 children together. Fritz served as a Corpsman in the Navy for 10 years and served in the Marines for 2 years. He married Carlene Gailey, who preceded him in death in 2002 and spent 10 years with his life partner Linda Watkins, who also preceded him in death. Fritz was a true country man who loved taking care of his land, tending his garden, listening to classic country music, and watching spaghetti westerns. He was always happiest when he was on top of his tractor. 

Fritz is survived by his daughters, Carrie Hester and husband Jim, Sheryl Curtis, and Debora Mann and husband Gary; grandchildren Justen Hinkle and wife Crissy, Brittany Addington and husband Brandon, Cami Hinkle and partner Devon Battle, Kevin Perryman and wife Shawna, Cody Perryman and wife Brittny, Jeremy Perryman and wife Matraca, and Miranda Doss; great grandchildren, Clint Hinkle, Asher and Willow Addington, Aric and Aubrey Battle, Wyatt and Riley Perryman, Ada and Brody Perryman, and Covin Perryman; and brothers, Billy Ballenger and wife Barbara, and Roy Ballenger and wife Brenda.

In addition to his parents, Fritz was preceded in death by sister, Bobbie Hall; brother, Buddy Ballenger; son, Charles Ballenger; and grandson, J.D. Doss.

Services will be 4 PM Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church. Burial will follow in Willow Pond Cemetery. Visitation is from 3-4 PM at the church prior to the service.
