Melinda Joyce Tomlin

Melinda Joyce (Taylor) Tomlin, 64, passed away August 8, 2021 in Mineral Wells, Texas. She was born July 24, 1957 in Olney, Texas. She was the daughter of Leonard Terrell Taylor and Iva Dell Hall Taylor. She married Jerrel Glen Tomlin on March 5, 1983 in Weatherford, Texas. She was the minister of music at the Mineral Wells Church of God for the past 24 years. Her passion in life was music. She conducted praise and worship at Texas Church of God Camp Meetings for many years, and also led praise and worship at two National Women’s Retreats in Phoenix, Arizona and San Antonio, Texas. She was known for the many choirs that she directed over the years. She conducted numerous music workshops and seminars and served as an adjudicator in several music competitions.
Melinda’s homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, August 14 at 2 P.M. at the Church of God Convention Center located at 2440 Ft. Worth HWY in Weatherford, Texas. Visitation is Friday, August 13 from 6-8 P.M. in the sanctuary at the Mineral Wells Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Jerrel Tomlin, of Mineral Wells; son, Jerry Tomlin and wife Maycan and children Cade and Carsyn of Mineral Wells; son, Taylor Tomlin and wife Sheridan and son, Jonas of Weatherford; her mother, Iva Dell Taylor of Paris; sister, Sandy Holt and husband Douglas of Paris; brother-in-law, Raymond Lee Tomlin and wife Debbie of Lubbock; brother-in-law, Martin Tomlin and wife Rosalinda of Helotes; sister-in-law: Sharon Tomlin-Walker of Crockett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Terrel Taylor; grandparents, Dave and Eustace Taylor, and Alvie and Dora Hall; aunts and uncles, Geneva and Joe Bost, Euel Hall, Mozelle and Ancel Hall, Davene Dority, Katherine and J.B. Alvord, and Carroll Gene Taylor, and her in-laws, Raymond and Cordelia(Arnold)Tomlin.
