LaJuana Jolly Cavness

November 6, 1936 – June 11, 2021

LaJuana Jolly Cavness passed away at her home in Mineral Wells on June 11, 2021, at the age of 84. LaJuana (Lou, LJ) was born on November 6, 1936, in Austin, Texas, and was the daughter of Estelle and Walter Jolly. She attended Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin, and married Leslie Ward (Les, Buddy) Cavness on November 5, 1954, the day after her high school graduation.

Les and LaJuana had two boys, Randy and Mike, and as the wife of a career Army officer, they moved frequently. Les retired from the military in the late 1970’s, and they moved back to Austin. They purchased a house in Kingsland, Texas on Lake LBJ and after Les passed away suddenly in 1981, LaJuana eventually moved to the lake permanently. She loved living at the lake, and many good times were had with family and friends fishing, skiing, eating and hosting family gatherings. Deciding to move to Mineral Wells after living in Kingsland for 30 years was hard for her; however, she made the move, reconnected with old friends, made new ones, enjoyed gambling trips, the occasional garage sale and never had a book far from her hands.

LaJuana was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Les, and her younger son Mike, who passed away in 2020. She is survived by her son Randy and his wife Shannon; grandchildren, Ryan Cavness and Kristin Sadler; great-grandchildren, Mac and Major Sadler; brother Gene Jolly and wife Patty; special niece and nephew, Paige Cantrell and Cory Jolly and their families. Never without a dog, she also leaves behind her lively and spirited companion, Dodge.

As per her wishes, there will be no service. A family memorial will be held at a later date in the Hill Country. We love you LJ!
