In a hard fought matchup on Tuesday night, the Rams and Lady Rams dropped another game to tough Burkburnett squads. The Bulldogs are ranked 2nd in the district while the Lady Bulldogs top the Lady Rams at 4th place.
Rams 79, Bulldogs 98
The Rams got off to a rough start, when the Bulldogs came out of the gate in a full court press, only scoring 8 points in the first quarter. They picked up the pace scoring in double digits in each quarter following, including out scoring Burk in the 4th quarter. It just wasn’t enough to edge out the Bulldogs.
Junior post Landon Russell led the way for the Rams scoring an impressive 25 points, as he quickly became the go to man to break the press the Bulldogs applied for the majority of the game. Junior Robbie Gillen and Senior Charles Carter also contributed big to the Rams attack, although still falling short of the W.
The Rams take the court on Friday in Graham and play one final home game on Tuesday Feb. 9th where the Senior Rams, Carter, Caleb Clark, and Luke Bullock will be honored.
Lady Rams 31, Lady Bulldogs 58
Just before the Lady Rams began warm-ups to prepare for this tough Burk team, they honored 3 special young ladies on the team, the seniors. Nadiya Weiss, Taylor Wheaton, and Carolina Tejada were escorted on to the floor, named, and presented gifts by their fellow teammates to honor their time as Lady Rams.
After tip-off, the Lady Rams just couldn’t find their groove offensively and fell to a tough Burkburnett team. Leading the scoring charge was Freshman guard Cadence Colwell with 7 and just behind her was Junior Brooke Bell with 5 points.
The Lady Rams struggled to hang on to the ball early in the game which cost them some turnovers resulting in points in the second quarter and that’s where the game got away from them. Burk took advantage of the mistakes and never looked back converting and creating a scoring gap.
The Lady Rams finish their season Friday in Graham at 6 p.m.
