The Lady Rams start with a fresh slate, 0-0, as they began district play on Tuesday night against Wichita Falls Hirschi. The game was rough and tough, and just in the first quarter, there were six fouls called, three on Mineral Wells, and three on Hirschi. This put Mineral Wells in a tough spot, with two of the three coming from Sophomore post-Kate Bradshaw, which sent her to the bench not to risk her getting into serious foul trouble later. Hirschi came with unanswered height in the post position that Mineral Wells struggled to contend. One comment found online said, “Hirschi height on the interior is giving MW some challenges.”
Coming out of halftime, Hirschi got the hot hand and scored 14 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter, most coming from offensive rebounds and second-chance points, and a couple of costly fouls against the Lady Rams. Finally, some points were put on the board by Freshman posts, 2 points by Lela Alifa, and 3 by Caitlyn Colwell. Going into the 4th, Hirschi was continuing to a full-court press, and Mineral Wells continued to get further into foul trouble, ending up in double bonus. The return of Bradshaw in the 2nd half helped the Lady Rams in the 4th quarter, where she had 5 points.
The Lady Rams hit the road to take on Vernon Friday evening, looking for a redemption win to tie up their record in game 2 of their district matchups.
