Houston Elementary is switching to fully remote learning starting Feb. 1, Mineral Wells ISD Superintendent John Kuhn announced via social media on January 29th.

The switch to remote learning is due to a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, staff exposure to the virus, and a shortage of substitutes, Kuhn said in the social media post.

“We know this is an inconvenience for parents, and we apologize,” Kuhn wrote. “We are endeavoring to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to allow our staff members’ quarantines to end so we can get them back into the classroom.”

Students can return for in-person learning Feb. 9.
