A network of clinics including primary care, family care, and specialists are striving to bring comprehensive care to the county.
According to Mike Turner, Executive Director of Practice Management, the goal of Palo Pinto General Hospital’s Clinic Care Network is to provide any kind of care those in the county may need.
“We really do try to give each and every patient a full spectrum of care to meet their needs, wherever they may be,” he said.
The network consists of three main clinics in the county. The clinics include primary care and urgent care clinics, which help take the pressure off the hospital, Turner said.
“If you’ve got a cut or an abrasion you need to get looked at, they can save you a trip to the ER,” Tuner said.
Additionally, several specialists, including OBGYNs and pediatrics, are part of the network, and PPGH continues to recruit more specialists. This allows county residents to receive the care they need without the hassle of going to the metroplex, Turner said.
“They can see newborn children all the way up to somebody [in their] older years to really make sure that your health care is being monitored,” he said.
Within the network, each provider that sees a patient will immediately be able to access their chart, allowing for a more seamless and complete course of care, Turner said. The network also offers telehealth as an alternative to in-person visits. This allows patients to stay on top of their health care without going to the clinic during the coronavirus pandemic, Turner added.
“If things are going left unaddressed, they’re just only going to get worse over time,” he said. “We still need to stay on top of these things that we would be doing anyway [outside of the pandemic].”
PPGH is expanding its network to ensure that all county residents have access to the healthcare they need locally, Turner said. This could include telehealth visits from specialists in the metroplex, he added.
“This is an organization that’s committed to meeting the needs of the community,” Turner said. “So we are trying to find creative ways to bring services that are needed.”
