In today’s world going out and having a good time may be difficult. But at the local watering hole, Coffee and Cocktails, there will be live performances every Friday and Saturday night from local musicians. on Jan 15th, 2021 The Cade Holliday Band was performing at 8 pm. The band is excited to be a part of our community tonight and get to know our natives; here is a little bit about them.
Holliday grew up in Wise County and found his love of music at a very young age. He began playing the drums when he was four years old. He quickly learned to play guitar and found his talent for singing by the time he was in his teens. He notes that “getting to meet people like Ryan Wilcox on the road. It’s my calling. That’s what I’m supposed to be here for.”
In the band, there are a few more talents, including Tyler McElreath, their lead guitarist. He grew up in Amarillo and began playing at the age of nine. McElreath says this is how he expresses himself. “I get a lot of emotion out through it. It is a very expressive thing when you become able to do it.” McElreath knew this was the path he wanted to go for the rest of his life in his early twenties and has made it his passion. “I took a period where I didn’t play music at all, and it felt like there was this huge hole in my life. I was like, I need to go do this, and it filled it.”
The band consists of Holliday, McElreath, Johnathan Mcguire, their drummer, and songwriter Brian Bishop. The band has been together since August 2020 and has been doing very well even in the midst of the pandemic. The band has been fortunate enough to play at smaller stages but build a stronger fan base regardless. The band writes their own music with a very authentic sound. They spotlight a fuse between a country and rock tune. It really seems to be a crowd-pleaser. The band travels locally and to other states as a full-time job with their loving families who support their dreams.
The band is currently located out of Weatherford-Fort Worth. For the future, they hope to have their first E.P ready by this summer for local radio company HTeaO. Their music then will reach places such as Texas, Florida, Arizona, and Oklahoma. “We bring a new fit on the metal show and play alternative country-rock music.”
What sets their brand apart from others is their passion and dedication to their art. They understand their masterpiece takes time and teamwork. Holliday says, “It’s the horizon, you know, set your sights on a goal and try to make it. I think the biggest thing, though, is setting smaller goals and making achievable things.”
The vibe at Coffee and Cocktail is upbeat and fun. The band is very excited to play in Mineral Wells and get to know the people here. They hope to make this a regular thing. “Take it easy, bring some laughs, tell some stories.” They will be here again at Mickey’s Pub next weekend, January 23rd. It will be a five-dollar cover charge, but with a whole lot of entertainment.
