If you’re looking for the best high school facilities in Texas, look no further than Mineral Wells High School.
Starting with the Ram Stadium, MWISD has built modern facilities that are among the finest in Texas. The football stadium has a two-story press box with two suites. Ram Stadium has a capacity of 7,000. There is also a modern field house with coaches’ offices and a training room.
Pratt Field, home of the Rams baseball team, has the feel of a Minor League baseball stadium. In fact, a minor league baseball team once called Pratt Field their home.
Kessler Field has given the Lady Rams their first softball stadium, complete with a press box. Pratt Field has a capacity of 1000 while Kessler field seats 500.
Eight tennis courts sponsored by Chicken Express have increased the interest in tennis among students.
The basketball arenas feature the main court with room for 1,000 fans and a second court that seats 500. The main arena also displays banners of all the playoff-bound Rams & Lady Rams. The four most prominent banners are the 1984 Girls State Golf Championship, the 1978 and 1979 Boys basketball State runner-up teams, and the 1964 Ramettes third-place State Tournament basketball team.
Last but not least is the Jackie Harvey Track Complex. Only a handful of high schools have their own track stadium, complete with a press box and a stadium that holds over 1,000 fans.
Much appreciation goes out to former school board members; Rodney Henderson and Holt Price and former MWISD staff members Charles Shewmake and Sean Harvey. One last shout out to Superintendent Dr. John Kuhn and his staff for keeping these facilities updated and in excellent condition.
There are 9 players from these teams that are members of the MWHS Athletics Hall of Fame. All four teams are also members of the Hall of Fame.
