Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020 Palo Pinto General Hospital received a massive amount of treats and snacks from the staff and students of Mineral Wells Independent School District. MWISD wanted to give back and thank PPGH for all the hard work they had put in this year for the community of Mineral Wells and the greater Palo Pinto County.

The staff at Palo Pinto General Hospital had no idea this would happen until the snacks started rolling down the halls to the different departments. Even with masks on, you can clearly see the joy on their faces!
Since the 9th of December, MWISD had been collecting snacks for the staff of PPGH under a fun operation they called “Shock n’ Claus”

“We were so touched by the outpouring of kindness shown to us from MWISD. We know this year’s been challenging for the teachers as well and they have overcome adversity to continue to educate our youth. We thank each teacher for all they do and every family who donated. Snacks will keep our PPGH family going and the support shown has lifted their spirits.”
Ross Korkmas, CEO, PPGH
“I’d like to say that I’m so proud of my staff and our students and their families for supporting our medical heroes during this difficult time. The motivation was just that the employees of PPGH have been so good to our community and specifically our school community over the years. They often donate coats during the winter to our students in need through employee donations. They’ve made telemedicine available to our students. They just do so much for us, and we felt like it was our turn to give back. Someone suggested that during the long hours they’re putting in due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it might be beneficial if they had snacks available and we figured we could gather up lots of snacks.
The folks at PPGH give and give and give, and we wanted to give back to them. It’s a small thing, but the main thing was we wanted some way to show them that we know they are giving so much for all of us right now. We just wanted a way to say “We love you” to all the nurses and doctors and lab folks and everyone else who have been carrying such a heavy load since March. Our families and employees responded so generously. I couldn’t be more proud of my always-amazing MWISD family. PPGH—thank you for all you do for the rest of us.“
