Jonny Goodday | Goodday Mineral Wells | 11/30/2020 | Fire/EMS
This morning if you saw smoke coming from the Fort Wolters area, there was nothing to be concerned about. The military received assistance from Texas A&M Forest Service to do a control burn on the overgrown grasslands. All of this was with the goal of avoiding any future wildfires. The fire is 100% contained over a 449 acre grass land and involved 22 personnel.
A statement from the NWCG website: “Texas A&M Forest Service is assisting military and environmental personnel in prescribed fire operations in Fort Wolters north west of Mineral Wells in Parker County Texas. This operation is being conducted on a grass fuel type that is unsheltered from other vegetation with the main goal of reducing wildfire threat and enhancing productive ecosystems.”
