Mary Lou Cox-Stahl
December 19, 1924 – November 6, 2020

Mary Lou Houston Cox-Stahl was born on December 19, 1924 to George Samuel Houston and Nettie Mae Raney Houston. She was born in the rural community of Liberty Grove in Dallas County, Texas, then moved to Wylie, Texas. After the death of her father in 1939 the family moved to Dallas, Texas. Mary graduated from N. R. Croizer High School in 1943. In 1946 she met returning WWII soldier, Joseph A. Cox, Jr. and the following year they were married. From this union two children were born, George Michael Cox and Charlotte Lynn Cox Allie. For 33 years she managed the medical offices of Dr. Edward Yeager and Dr. William O’Quinn and she was very active in the Mineral Wells community especially the Zonta Club of Mineral Wells and the Palo Pinto County Fair. She was a faithful and dedicated member of First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells. After nearly 45 years of marriage, her husband Joe passed away from cancer in 1992. She then dedicated herself to her large immediate and extended family and volunteer work at Palo Pinto General Hospital, First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells, and local elementary schools. In 2003, Mary married Francis A. (John) Stahl of Mineral Wells until his death in 2008. After his death, she moved to Bedford, Texas where she lived until her death.

Survivors include son, George Michael Cox and wife Dana Toudouze of Ranger, Texas; daughter, Charlotte Cox Allie and husband Daniel Allie of Bedford, Texas; grandchildren, Julie Cox Fletcher (Eric), Patrick Healy, Kristin Allie (Randy), Angela Holcombe (James), Erin Williams, Nathan Williams (Madeline); numerous nieces and nephews, and many great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, five sisters, and one brother.

Mary will be interred at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells, Texas in a family ceremony 2 p.m., Monday, November 9, 2020. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to American Cancer Society, Kids Across America, or First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells.
