On October 23rd, 2020, the inaugural Crazy About Film Festival (CAFF) begins in Downtown Mineral Wells. A first of its kind, Crazy About Film Festival will be free and provide the chance for rising filmmakers to win $500 in the Crazy About Short Film Contest.
Classic films will be shown alongside some newer films made by passionate filmmakers.
“I know what you’re thinking when you hear the words ‘film festival,'” says Bob Kaspar, co-founder of the CAFF. “You’re thinking of something ‘artsy’ that either puts you to sleep or doesn’t make any sense. That’s not what we’re about. The films in this festival represent genres voted on by the people of Mineral Wells. We want to show you the kinds of movies you want to see. We’re crazy about film and delighted to be joining forces with the Chamber of Commerce to put on this year’s event. We’re excited to be showcasing and celebrating Mineral Wells’ unique and “crazy” history while uncovering fresh filmmaking talent from here at home and beyond.”
The festival will start at the Hole in the Wall Bier Garten (216 N Oak Ave, Mineral Wells, TX 76067) at 7 PM with the short film “Mineral Wells On Screen” featuring archival footage of Mineral Wells.
On Saturday, the Crazy About Short Film Competition will be hosted at The Crazy Water Hotel and will show short films from local and international filmmakers with a prize of $500 to be won by the film voted as the best. Unlike most film festivals, the audience will be the judge of this competition.
Live music and more films will be played throughout the evening of Saturday and all day Sunday. This three-day event is bound to be a great beginning to a new-found tradition within Downtown Mineral Wells.
Once again, the event is free to the public. To learn more and get free tickets, click here.
