Mineral Wells Rams needed a win last night and they wanted it bad. Coming into their homecoming game 0-2 and hoping to break an eighteen game losing streak, the Rams did not give up their fight.
Mineral Wells got under the skin of the Venus Bulldogs early…
The game had a great start with a touchdown at the 9:22 mark of the first quarter by wide receiver Devon Little. Little went on to have a stellar game, with four touchdowns. A fourth down turnover resulted in the Rams’ ball inside the 20 and an unsportsmanlike conduct call occurred against the Bulldogs. This brought Mineral Wells within the 10 and set Little up to score his second touchdown of the night with 4:20 left in the first quarter. The third touchdown for Little came in the second quarter with the first half closed out with a touchdown from Nick Rios. Half-time score was 28-6.
The second half didn’t start off as pretty, with quarterback Jacy Holland throwing an interception early in the third quarter. The Rams settled down and were able to pull out a touchdown shortly after by Kequan Cyphers, making the score 35-6 to complete the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was the highest-scoring with twenty-six total points being scored; sixteen of which coming from the opposing Bulldogs. However, this wasn’t enough to bring down the Rams who scored ten points. A 29-yard field goal was booted early in the fourth quarter with another touchdown struck by Little soon after.
The Rams defense really stepped up and improved since last week’s loss. Stat-stackers were Bryce Fellows, Cambren Morrison, Tyson Reeves, and Evan Silva.
The offense showed up and showed out as well, with four receiving touchdowns by Little and two rushing touchdowns by Rios and Cyphers. All extra-point kicks were great by the Rams kicker, Renteria. Also coming out with solid plays down the stretch were Tristan Gray, Anthony Hernandez, and J.W. Ethridge.
Great job, Rams!!!
