MINERAL WELLS, TX – The Mineral Wells Rams Junior Varsity and Varsity teams will be unable to play football this week against the Sanger ISD Indians due to three COVID positive cases, per MWISD. The freshman team will be able to play as scheduled since there are no positive cases on their team.

MWISD announced on Wednesday that they “received word last night of three positive COVID-19 tests among Rams JV and Varsity football players.” The district confirms that there are four lab-confirmed positive football players as of 9/16/2020 at 8:30 AM.

In response to the recent positive cases, the district will perform contact tracing to identify further individuals who may need to be tested/quarantined. The field house, weight room, and athletic locker rooms will be cleaned as well.

The current situation will be re-assessed this weekend in regards to next week’s football schedule/activities.

At this time, MWISD has six COVID positive students and one staff member, per Superintendent John Kuhn.
