MINERAL WELLS, TX – The Mineral Wells Animal Shelter’s numbers for the month of August are now available and show more than just simple reports – they show dedication.
Kim Marinaro is the leader behind the scenes at Mineral Wells Animal Shelter. Although her job description might entail a normal work week, Kim works around-the-clock to ensure that animal lives are cherished in Mineral Wells.
Serving not only Mineral Wells, but all of Palo Pinto County, the Mineral Wells Animal Shelter’s number one goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals. For the month of August, the shelter cared for three armadillos, one bird, 115 cats, one deer, sixty-two dogs, two opossum, one porcupine, and five raccoons. The most outstanding number being: 115 cats. It’s no secret that Mineral Wells has a high cat population with hundreds of cats being cared for by the shelter during the entirety of the summer. Nonetheless, Kim takes special care of all animals brought in. For the month of August, twelve cats and ten dogs were adopted and five cats and eleven dogs were reclaimed.
The live release rate at Mineral Wells Animal Shelter is a number that is of great importance. With an average of over 90% of all animals released alive, cared for, and safe for the last several quarters, the shelter excels at ensuring that each animal is cherished. None of this could be done without Kim or the many volunteers that have dedicated hundreds of hours of time per week into caring for the animals. The month of August had an outstanding percentage of animals safely released – 96.79% to be exact.
The shelter answered over 300 calls last month and cared for 190 animals in total. However, none of this work could be done without the support of the Mineral Wells Police Department Animal Control division, the volunteers, donations, and Kim! If you would like to inquire further about how you may volunteer, adopt, or which items are in need of donation, please email Kim at kmarinaro@mineralwellstx.gov.
