Broxie Nell Nelson: September 22, 1931 – September 9, 2020

Graveside services for Broxie Nell Nelson will be Saturday September 12th at 10 am at Salesville Cemetery in Salesville, Texas. Broxie passed away September 9th in a local nursing home.  Broxie was born September 22, 1931 to Clark and Lucille Harrington. She grew up in Palo Pinto county. She married Howard Vernon Nelson on May 18, 1946 in Henrietta Texas eventually returning to Mineral Wells. They had two children, Howard Lee and Patricia Ann. Broxie was a lifelong mother and homemaker. She had an indelible talent for sewing but she was most notably known for her crocheting skills. She loved crocheting for family, friends, and members of the community. If Broxie knew you, you are probably the proud owner of a handmade crocheted afghan, or two. She enjoyed going to garages sales. She loved acquiring old dolls of every kind, taking them home, cleaning them up, sewing new dresses/outfits for them and then she would proudly display her collection for all to see. She also had a knack, so to speak, for collecting all kinds of little knick knacks. From figurines to carnival glassware. But her most prized possessions were her grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grandkids. She so enjoyed getting to see them, especially the younger ones, every chance she could.

Broxie was preceded in death by both of her parents, Clark and Lucille Harrington. Husband Howard Vernon Nelson. Son, Howard Lee Nelson. And Son-in-Law Larry Jones. Broxie is survived by daughter Patricia Jones. Sister, Verna Tuller. Niece Karen Peterman and nephew Bobby Peterman. Three Grandchildren: Cheryl Holmes (husband Michael), Stephanie Elser, and Michael Jones (wife Samantha). Eight great grandchildren: Kaylee Guajardo (husband Juan), Joseph Barham (wife Erica), Jesse Barham, Jacob Barham, Dylan Jones, Bryce Jones, Knox Jones, and Keely Griswold.  And seven great-great grandchildren: Gabe, Eli, Cruz, Creed, Mia, Sophie Kay, and Landon.

The family would like to thank Beyond Faith Hospice and all of their staff for the excellent care Broxie was given during her last couple of weeks here on earth. And an especially warm heartfelt thank you to Mandy Fallin, RN for the personal care she provided and who was always so gracious to keep Broxie’s daughter up to date on her care since she had not been allowed inside the facility in several months.
