Glen Zumwalt Albin

May 29, 1928 – August 3, 2020

Affectionately known as ‘Grandpa,’ Glen Zumwalt Albin, 92, passed away August 3, 2020 in Mineral Wells, TX. Glen was born May 29, 1928 in Crider, MO to Emery Lorraine and Lucy Zumwalt Albin. As one of nine children, Glen loved growing up in the heart of the Ozarks with a farm load full of siblings. When the Korean War broke out, he enlisted into the military. This led to his eventual move to Fort Walters in Mineral Wells, TX. He met the love of his life, Rosa Fern Atkins, in 1951 at the movie theatre downtown. Fern once told a co-worker, “I will marry that short little man someday.” They soon dated and on April 29, 1952, Fern married her short little man. Glen and Fern began a 63-year adventure together filled with memories, love and laughter until her passing in 2015. Glen loved attending all activities involving his children and grandchildren.  He was an active and dedicated member of the Mineral Wells Church of God family. Glen’s real passion however was music, particularly the violin. Since childhood, he found music to be his tool of expression. From those early years with his hometown friend, a then unknown Country Music Legend, Porter Wagner to music festivals across the country, he truly loved to play. His music will live on in the instruments he created and the music he played throughout his life.

He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law: Harold Albin of Granbury, Mark and Johnna Albin of Mineral Wells, grandchildren and spouses: Toby and Kristi Albin of Mineral Wells, Felicia and Nicholas Kuo of Dallas, Taylor Albin and Dean Kelley of Orlando, FL, great-grandchildren: Jaxon Albin, Kennedy and Asher Kuo, sister-in-law: Maxine Albin of West Plains, MO, Evelyn Atkins of Hurst, numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosa Fern Albin, parents: Emery and Lucy Zumwalt Albin, son: Tim Albin, daughter-in-law: Vada Albin, brothers and sisters: Nadine Albin, Evalina Albin, Charles Albin, Ralph Albin, Doris McGregor, Blanche Wright, Porter Albin and Dennis Albin, along with numerous other family and friends.
