Thursday evening, December 10th, 2020, at the VFW Post 2399 in Mineral Wells, TX, Telisha Calderon was awarded a heroism award for saving a young boy during a boat explosion in late August of this year.

Telisha’s birthday is coming up this Saturday, so the members of the VFW asked her to swing by after work because they wanted to wish her a happy birthday before their meeting. Little did she know that there was something much bigger planned. Telisha said she was very honored to receive the award from The Veterans of Foreign Wars, one of the members being her own father. She can not wait to find a nice place to display the award in her home.
