MINERAL WELLS, TX – Last week, TxDOT was at Welcome Mountain to place a driveway for better access and visualization of the front side of the area. A local contractor, who has requested to remain anonymous at this time, is working on an upcoming project that could result in a new local business at the base of Welcome Mountain. However, the project is not able to move forward until TxDOT grants full access and permission.
The base of the mountain does not currently have access via a drivable road. With TxDOT’s assistance, the base of the mountain will not only become accessible, but will also have a road.
While citizens may be concerned that the visuals of Welcome Mountain could be changed adversely by allowing further access and the addition of a new business at the base of the mountain, it is not believed that this will be the case. The Welcome sign should still be fully shown and the surrounding trees/nature should not be too changed.
The true question, however, is…What is coming to Welcome Mountain? Stay tuned to find out more in the future.
