Dear Editor,
In just a few days, voters of Texas House District 60 will be asked to go to the polls to select our next representative in the Texas Legislature. This election carries great consequences, so I urge everyone to consider which candidate will benefit our district the most.
Our county is poised for exponential economic growth, and we need someone representing us in Austin that understands that and will work with local leaders to help our economy grow. Dr. Glenn Rogers is that candidate.
Dr. Rogers has been a resident of Palo Pinto County for most of his life. His family has been ranching the same land near Graford for more than 100 years. This is important – Palo Pinto County hasn’t had a representative in state government since 1981, when State Senator Tom Creighton retired from the legislature.
Since he entered this race last summer, Dr. Rogers has traveled across the district, visiting every county and almost every town and city. He has met with thousands of citizens and almost every elected county and city official. He has built relationships that will help him govern when he is elected.
These relationships have translated into numerous endorsements: every single sheriff in District 60 and numerous county commissioners, city council members, mayors, judges, district and county attorneys, and many more. In fact, more than 50 locally elected county and city officials have endorsed Glenn in this race.
In Mineral Wells, Dr. Rogers has received support from numerous city officials, such as our mayor, Tammy Underwood, and City Council members Brain Shoemaker, Regan Johnson, Beth Watson, and Doyle Light. In the greater-Palo Pinto County area, Glenn has received support all four County Commissioners – Gary Glover, Mike Reed, Mike Pierce, and Jeff Fryer – as well as our District Attorney, Kriste Burnet and retired County Judge David Nicklas.
Even our state and federal representatives have endorsed Glenn. Governor Greg Abbott, Governor Rick Perry and U.S. Congressman Mike Conaway have all endorsed Dr. Rogers.
The people we have elected – the people we trust – have placed their trust in Dr. Rogers.
Numerous organizations that represent men and women across the district have also expressed support for Dr. Rogers. These include the Texas Farm Bureau AGFUND, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the Texas State Teachers Association, Parent PAC, TEXPAC (which is made up of a majority of Texas physicians), the Texas Hospital Association, the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT), Texas Municipal Police Association, Texas State Association of Firefighters, Life PAC, and the Texas Alliance for Life.
There is a reason so many people, elected officials, and organizations support Dr. Glenn Rogers: as a longtime resident of Palo Pinto County, he understands the needs of our rural communities and their people. We need Dr. Rogers representing us in Austin.
Your vote on Tuesday, July 14, is essential. Please get out and vote with your family and friends, and I ask that you consider casting that vote for Dr. Glenn Rogers.
