Joan Faris Grimm

December 4th, 1933 – June 13th, 2021


December 4, 1933 – June 13th 2021  Only 26 days after she lost the love of her life, Joan died in Willow Park, Texas at the age of 87.  She and Jim are now waltzing across heaven together. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late George Dewey and Gladys Van Vlack Faris. She graduated from Pitt with her Nursing Degree in 1954.  Joan married her best friend and soulmate James Grimm on February 4th, 1955.  Joan spent much of her career as a public health nurse caring for families in inner city Pittsburgh.  More recently, Joan served as a Parish nurse for University Christian Church (UCC) of Ft. Worth.  Joan loved to sew, knit, and quilt in her spare time as well as volunteering in the Prayer Bead ministry at UCC.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband James A Grimm, Sr.; her son James A. Grimm, Jr, a brother Dewey Faris and a stillborn daughter.

She is survived by her daughter Gail Grimm Murray (husband Glen) of Mineral Wells; grandsons J. Tyler Grimm of Washington D.C. and Elliot P. Grimm of Venice Beach, CA; granddaughter Sara Murray Wall (husband Danny) of Mineral Wells; sisters-in-law Gert Faris of Pittsburgh and Janet Grimm Hyne (husband Dr. Norman) of Tulsa; and daughter-in-law Nicole Brophy Grimm .  Also three great grandchildren (Adam, Ryan and Elizabeth Wall) and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at University Christian Church on July 9th at 10 am.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to University Christian Church.
