June 17th, 2021 around 430 pm, Mineral Wells Emergency Services received a call about a structure on fire on Hideaway Acres Rd just west of town near 337.

Within seconds the Mineral Wells Fire Department was headed towards the fire. The fire was 10 minutes from the station, so by the time they had gotten there, the fire was out of control and engulfing the home.

The homeowner was on the other side of the home when he started to smell smoke. He told us that for some reason, the smoke detectors didn’t even go off. Luckily he was able to exit the home without harm. Unfortunately, it appears the house is a total loss. Here is a video of the events that unfolded when I arrived. At this time it is undetermined what caused the fire.
