Due to COVID-19, girls’ night was a thing of the past for 2020 and may still be lacking in the near future. But that doesn’t mean that the fun is over. Twenty-four-year-old Byanca Acosta is bringing girls night out to women from all over Mineral Wells daily. She has created a sensational Facebook group called “MW Boozed Babes.” Byanca was born and raised here in Mineral Wells. She felt herself being left out from the rest of the world because of COVID. There were a lot of other Facebook groups from larger cities, but nothing for our community. It was common for her to see other boozed groups for the metroplex.
So, she created “MW Boozed Babes” just for ladies living in Mineral Wells. Byanca notes, “It was in all the towns of Texas, and I thought to myself, why not make one local. Especially with COVID, Everyone is stuck at home & who doesn’t love a nice little gesture.”
MW Boozed Babes is a group just for Mineral Wells’s ladies to give back to one another without having to worry about going out. The idea is to surprise a lucky lady with a gift on their doorstep. There would be a card from the boozer, a token of alcohol such as a wine cooler, a few beers, or a shot within this gift. But it’s not just alcohol because of not everyone drinks. There are additional gifts with it, such as candy, snacks, soft socks, candles, or facemasks.
From the first day, Byanca began the group she had over six-hundred people join. She quickly realized that this group was going to be booming. “I was caught off guard,” She said.
Byanca and her other admin Jaclyn González started to respond to the group’s needs. To help the group get the gist of how the group is run, Byanca began boozing others immediately. It made a significant response to the public because she noted that ladies were boozing other people on the page by the next day!
When an individual gets “boozed” they are to post pictures of what they received. Then they pay it forward by boozing someone else at random within the group. The participants will then post their likes with their address in the comments. Shortly after, the new boozer picks from that lineup of comments to deliver a gift to someone else. There are rules within this group to ensure participants’ safety. All members are females living within the Mineral Wells community. It is a closed group, and all members must be at least twenty-one to be added to the group.
The group’s activity has been constant. The group now has over a thousand members, and more being added daily. It has been inspiring to see these ladies work together to make each other feel special. It is not only showing love but building new bonding friendships as well. Byanca says, “I love the interaction with people I love talking to everyone & getting to know them.”, and, “ I think this is something that would be fun & bring the women of the community together & give us a chance to meet new people here local!”
But it’s not just a door dash. There are also rewards for paying it forward. Byanca says, “We do have monthly giveaways & we do have options for people that are in there & are pregnant or don’t drink. We give them snacks, their fav drink, or something just simple to brighten their day!”
It is making a difference for women all over the community. It is making them feel special during this time of distance. Whether it is a stay at home mom, on bed rest, working, constant soccer mom, grandma empty nester, or just a lovely lady living in mineral wells, all are being appreciated.
“I see it affecting the public in a better way. Mineral Wells is a small town that I have always loved. I love the interaction with people. I love talking to everyone & getting to know them.”
Local bars and hangout spots may have a run for their money when COVID -19 is over because the ladies of Mineral Wells are finding friendly, affordable, safe ways to appreciate each other. Byanca has high wishes for this group. “I hope BOOZED BABES go much further -In the future. I want every woman in that group to feel loved & open to their own opinion ALWAYS!!” & a little insider, we do have bigger plans in the works for this like getting together for lunch, dinner, or even a lady’s night out!!!”
